Muhammad Yunus Meets Joe Biden, Assures US's Full Support To Bangladeshy

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden met with Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, during the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York. As per a press release issued by the Chief Adviser's Office, Biden extended an offer to the Bangladeshi interim government of the US complete assistance.



President Biden gave Yunus congrats on being named leader of the transitional administration. In addition, Biden praised the two governments' sustained cooperation and pledged US support for Bangladesh's new reform program.

According to a White House statement, the two leaders reaffirmed the "close partnership" between Bangladesh and the United States, which is based on strong people-to-people ties and shared democratic ideals.

In addition, Yunus informed Biden about the current situation in Bangladesh and discussed the students' rebellion against the "tyranny of the previous government." He went on to say that for him to succeed his government and rebuild the country, he needed the support of the United States.


Additionally, the Chief Advisor gave President Biden a copy of the book "The Art of Triumph," which features wall paintings created by students during the uprising.

On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting on Tuesday, Yunus also met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

According to the release, during the brief meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen relationships between Bangladesh and Canada, expand freedom, establish institutions, and assist Bangladesh's youth.
